THE BEGINNING

My first dog as an adult, Kilby, a shepherd mix, pictured here with my first car, a Mercury Cyclone.  Kilby traveled this country with me.  And the car - she was nice...and fast.  Next is Max, my first German Shorthaired Pointer, and Cullen, my last West Highland White Terrier.  I adopted Max from the local animal shelter and this became my lifelong passion for the German Shorthaired Pointer.  Max was gun shy, fearful of water, and starving when I adopted him.  The very first night, he took a bath in the tub and over time, he learned that he would never be hungry again.  I loved him, my first GSP boy, and he became my constant companion.  He even learned to stay close while gardening with me and his little brother.  I will never forget these dogs who have traveled to the Rainbow Bridge.

Fenton River German Shorthaired Pointers is located in the Western Mountains of Maine in the foothills of Mount Blue.  Fenton River dogs are AKC and NAVHDA registered and Fenton River is a NAVHDA registered kennel.  All Fenton River dogs are either OFA or Penn Hip certified.  I train my dogs to hunt and also participate in AKC and NAVHDA activities which include testing in the NAVHDA system and participating in AKC hunt tests and conformation.  Following are the Fenton River German Shorthaired Pointers, past and present.
